Here, I will make an attempt to distill and edit scientific data to suit our needs, with regards to the information needed to RP such a variety of species. I will only be dealing with the average length and weight, litter size, acceptable eye and coat colours, species name, and other miscellaneous information useful to note. Please add on to this list if you have more info.
Grey Wolf:
Species name: Canis lupus Length: 1.30 -- 2.00 metres from head to tail Weight:20 -- 70 kilograms Litter Size: 2 -- 6 pups; average 3. Acceptable Coat Colours: Wolves have a mixture of colors through their coats, rarely you will see a solid color wolf. Although the wolves can be, dark brown, black, white, ticked with colors, copper red with black ticking, or a medium grayish tone. Acceptable Eye Colours: Eye color is usually a golden brown, but can go as far as a light blue for some and a red for albinos. Acceptable Marking Colours: [Coming soon.] Notes: Has many subspecies that differ rather drastically in appearance and habitat.
Fox [All kinds]:
Species name: Vulpes [insert species name] for true foxes; Vulpes vulpes for Red Fox Length: 0.80 -- 1.35 metres from head to tail Weight: 3 -- 11 kilograms Litter Size: 2 -- 6 kits; average 3. Acceptable Coat Colours: Copper red to white Acceptable Eye Colours: [Coming soon.] Acceptable Marking Colours: [Coming soon.] Notes: True foxes are those in the genus Vulpes. However, there are some 15 more species, not from that genus, that are considered foxes as well. Here the statistics used are those of the Red Fox, Vulpes vulpes.
African Hunting Dog:
Species name: Lycaon pictus Length: 1.30 -- 1.45 metres from head to tail Weight: 17 -- 36 kilograms Litter Size: 2 -- 12 pups; average 5. Acceptable Coat Colours: Copper orange to black and rare white. Acceptable Eye Colours: [Coming soon.] Acceptable Marking Colours: [Coming soon.] Notes: There is great dispute over the naming of this species. Some variations include Painted Hunting Dog, African Wild Dog, Cape Hunting Dog, Spotted Dog and Painted Wolf. It is reputed to have the largest bite force in relation to its body mass amongst members of the order Carnivora.
Coyote:
Species name: Canis latrans Length: 0.75 -- 0.87 metres from head to tail Weight: 7 -- 21 kilograms Litter Size: 5 -- 10 pups; average 6. Acceptable Coat Colours: reddish cream base with darker red and black ticked into coat. Acceptable Eye Colours: [Coming soon.] Acceptable Marking Colours: [Coming soon.] Notes: May run up to 69 kilometres per hour, and can jump over 4 metres.
Jackal:
Species name: Canis Aureus -- Golden Jackal; Canis mesomelas -- Black- or Silver-backed Jackal; Canis adustus -- Side-striped Jackal Length: 0.32 -- 1.30 metres from head to tail Weight: 7 -- 15 kilograms Litter Size: 2 -- 6 pups; average 4. Acceptable Coat Colours: light cream to black. Acceptable Eye Colours: [Coming soon.] Acceptable Marking Colours: [Coming soon.] Notes: Crepuscular animals. Three different species: Black- or Silver-backed Jackal, Side-striped Jackal and Golden Jackal. The Golden Jackal is the largest, with the Black- or Silver-backed Jackal being the smallest. Thus, there is a great variety in length, of which some 20 centimetres go to the tail.
Wild Dog:
Species name: Canis lupus familiaris Length: 0.095 -- 2.50 metres from head to tail Weight: 0.113 -- 155.6 kilograms Litter Size: 4 -- 12 pups; average 6. (usually only a few survive) Acceptable Coat Colours: Ticked (mixture of colors) , red, gray, brown, black, white Acceptable Eye Colours: brown to a light blue Acceptable Marking Colours: [coming soon] Notes: Should be called the feral Domesticated Dog if what I'm assuming is correct, but meh. Many, many breeds in this category. It is recommended to do research pertaining only to the specific breed of Dog, as there is drastic variation in size and build.
Hyena: Species name: Crocuta crocuta Length: 1.00 -- 1.50 metres from head to tail Weight: 45 -- 80 kilograms Litter Size: 2 -- 4 pups; average 3. Acceptable Coat Colours: light cream to a dark gray Acceptable Eye Colours: brown to a dark golden copper color. Acceptable Marking Colours: darker than the coat color. Notes: Matriarchal society. Are good swimmers, and can run up to 50 kilometres per hour for up to 3 hours. Has a larger bite force than even a brown bear.
Lion: Species name: Panthera leo Length: 2.10 -- 3.55 metres from head to tail Weight: 120 -- 250 kilograms Litter Size: 1 -- 4 cubs; average 2. Acceptable Coat Colours: Dark to light tan, rare white. Acceptable Eye Colours: [Coming soon.] Acceptable Marking Colours: [Coming soon.] Notes: Displays obvious sexual dimorphism. Females hunt for the pride, but males dominate the kill. Can be cross-bred with tigers to produce ligers or tigons, of which males are usually sterile and have 50% chance of growing a [modest] mane. Are sprinters and stalkers with less stamina than most big cats.
Tiger: Species name: Panthera tigris Length: 3.30 -- 3.50 metres from head to tail Weight: 75 -- 306 kilograms Litter Size:2 -- 4 cubs; average 3. Acceptable Coat Colours: Orange coloration to a rare white. Acceptable Eye Colours: [Coming soon.] Acceptable Marking Colours: [Coming soon.] Notes: Size of subspecies increases with latitude. Heaviest cats in the wild, and the most identifiable. Loves water.
Cheetah: Species name: Acinonyx jubatus Length: 1.15 -- 1.35 metres from head to tail Weight: 40 -- 65 kilograms Litter Size: 3 -- 6 cubs; average 3. Acceptable Coat Colours: Yellowish cream color to dark tan Acceptable Eye Colours: [Coming soon.] Acceptable Marking Colours: [Coming soon.] Notes: Fastest land animal, capable of speeds between 112 to 120 kilometres per hour in short bursts, and can accelerate from o to 110 kilometres per hour in three seconds. Semi-retractable claws give it extra traction and therefore speed [semi-retractable meaning the lack of a skin-and-fur sheath]. Cannot roar, but can purr, and is the smallest of the big cats.
Leopard: Species name: Felis pardus Length: 1.50 -- 3.00 metres from head to tail Weight: 28 -- 91 kilograms Litter Size: 1 -- 3 cubs; average 2. Acceptable Coat Colours: a creamy yellow base to black Acceptable Eye Colours: [Coming soon.] Acceptable Marking Colours: [Coming soon.] Notes: Heritable melanistic genes. Is an opportunistic hunter which hides its prey on trees or in vegetation.
Jaguar: Species name: Panthera onca Length: 1.62 -- 1.83 metres from head to tail Weight: 56 -- 96 kilograms Litter Size: 1 -- 4 cubs; average 2. Acceptable Coat Colours: Dark to light golden tan Acceptable Eye Colours: [Coming soon.] Acceptable Marking Colours: [Coming soon.] Notes: Has an exceptionally powerful bite, and bites through the skull of the prey to deliver a fatal blow to the brain. Loves water, like tigers.
Cougar: Species name: Puma concolor Length: 1.50 -- 2.75 metres from head to tail Weight: 34 -- 72 kilograms Litter Size: 1 -- 5 kits; average 3. Kits are born two years apart. Acceptable Coat Colours: Dark to light tan, white under belly and black tip of tail. Acceptable Eye Colours: Light brown to yellow Acceptable Marking Colours: [Coming soon.] Notes: Great leaping and sprinting ability; has been recorded to leap 5.4 metres vertically and 6 to 12 metres horizontally.
Clouded Leopard: Species name: Neofelis nebulosa Length: 0.55 -- 1.10 metres from head to tail Weight: 15 -- 23 kilograms Litter Size: 1 -- 5 cubs; average 3. Acceptable Coat Colours: Light brown to rare white Acceptable Eye Colours: Golden, yellow, dark brown, or light brown. Acceptable Marking Colours: Dark brown to a dark gray Notes: Large, irregular spots that are said to resemble clouds. Is an arboreal hunter. Has the longest canine teeth of any feline [proportionally]. Can climb hanging upside-down and descends trees head-first.
